How Long is a Temporary Block on Facebook?

The duration of a temporary block on Facebook can vary, but typically it lasts for a few hours to 24 to 48 hours. During this time, Facebook provides specific instructions that need to be followed in order to lift the temporary block.

However, there are instances where the block may persist even after 48 hours. In such cases, the only option is to appeal to Facebook for the restoration of your account.

Note: The process of appealing can take up to a month before your account is restored.

Why Does Facebook Temporarily Block an Account?

Facebook temporarily blocks an account for various reasons:

  • Suspicious Activity: If Facebook detects suspicious activity on an account, such as unauthorized access or unusual behavior, it will place a temporary block. This is done to protect the account and its owner.
  • Fake Identity or Impersonation: Using a fake name or account to impersonate someone can lead to a temporary block. So, the identity verification of the user is required if suspicious activity is detected.
  • Bots and Automated Software: Linking bots or automated software to your account can trigger a temporary block. Such activity is against Facebook’s policies and can result in account restrictions.
  • Spamming: Engaging in spamming activities can also lead to a temporary account block. It includes excessively posting or sending messages, especially if they are unwanted or unrelated to the intended recipients.
  • Linking with Third-Party Apps: The most common reason for a temporary block on Facebook is linking your account with a third-party app. If this activity raises security concerns, Facebook may temporarily block the account.
  • Accessing from Unfamiliar Locations or Devices: If you access your account from an unfamiliar location or an unknown device, Facebook may block your account as a security precaution.
  • Violation of Community Standards: Engaging in activities that violate Facebook’s community standards can result in a temporary block. Examples include posting prohibited content, engaging in hate speech, or sharing explicit or violent material.
  • Excessive Password Recovery Requests: Frequently forgetting your password and continuously requesting Facebook recovery login codes can become a reason for Facebook to temporarily block your account.

1 thought on “How Long is a Temporary Block on Facebook?”

  1. Well something has changed with facebook from your post above… I just opened my very 1st FB page 4 days ago. Then I opened a business page from that and was in process of uploading job photos and so on, and even had some items I was putting on marketplace to sell and inquiries.

Then early yesterday morning, my estranged wife (I am in a NC divorce mess) talking with one of her TikTok friends spelling my name out loudly, , decided to report me as bullying her in her private room or such, which is a lie, and now I have this block and cannot access my business page nor answer customer concerns.

How long does this go on as you cannot just call FB employee and talk about this?

How can a spited soon to be ex attack and affect my small business like this out of spite and it is OK???

    Regards,
