Option 1: Via Mobile
You can directly create a community from the Messenger app on your mobile. Follow the steps shown below to do the same:
- Open the Messenger app and tap on the hamburger icon at the top left corner.
- Tap on Create Community under Communities.
- Tap on Try it to complete the on-screen process.
- Select your options from Neighbourhood or town/city, Social, Hobbies and interests, and much more under What’s your community about?
- To create a personalized community, tap on Custom.
- Tap on the plus icon under Add Image to insert a profile picture.
- Type in your title under Name your community.
- Type in a bio under Enter a description.
- Tap on Preview from the top right corner.

Why Can’t I Create Community Chats on Messenger?
There can be several reasons you may not be able to create a community chat on your Messenger. Let’s check them out:
- You can’t access or use community chats if they are not available in a particular group.
- You are not an admin of a group and hence not permitted to create communities.
- There are already 100 community chats in your group. Therefore, you can only remove an existing chat to create another.
How to Find Community Chat in Facebook Messenger
You can easily access community chats with just a few taps on Messenger.
Option 1: Via Mobile
- Open the Messenger app and tap on the hamburger icon at the top left corner.
- Tap on your community group under Communities.
- Tap on Edit if you wish to hide or unhide a community.
- Tick on your community group and tap on Done to show the chat under Communities.

Option 2: Via Desktop
