Well, everything is well & good, until you turn on your Roku device and the white light blinks, but when you try to stream Live TV on it, a message pops up on the screen that says No Signal. Why Does Roku Say No Signal When I Turn It On & How to Fix It?
There could be several reasons behind your Roku TV having no signal on HDMI however, those can be resolved through simple methods. The following reasons might lead to Roku losing its signals:
- Loose or faulty HDMI connection.
- Weak internet connection.
- Inadequate power supply.
- Outdated software version.
Now that you know the possible causes behind the issue, let’s see how it can be fixed.
To resolve this issue, restart the Roku device, reconnect all the plugs properly, and change the input source:
1. Press the Home button on the remote and go to Settings.
2. Select TV Inputs.
3. From the list of inputs, select HDMI 1, HDMI 2, or AV depending on in which port your cable is plugged in.
Method 1: Basic Troubleshooting
Usually, such issues are minor & temporary and can be easily fixed by some easy go-to solutions.
Method 1.1: Power Cycle Roku Device
Sometimes, when the device doesn’t boot up properly, it can cause problems with the signal and connectivity. However, when you power cycle and restart the device, the same can be fixed.
1. Unplug the power cord of the Roku TV from the main outlet.
2. Press and hold the power button on the TV for 30 seconds. Doing so will discharge the TV completely.
3. Plug the cord again into the outlet and power on the TV.
Method 1.2: Unplug and Reconnect all Cables
If you notice that the white light on your Roku device is blinking but the TV is showing No Signal, it’s possible that the cable connecting the box to the TV isn’t properly connected. Unplug it, give the pin a good clean, and check for any signs of wear & tear or visible damage to the cable, as that could also cause issues with the signal.
Once you’ve inspected the cable, plug it back into the TV. Just make sure that the cable is connected to the correct port, nice & snug. Also, check that the power adapter of the receiver is working fine and the outlet it is connected to is also functional.
Method 1.3: Clean HDMI Port
Please check for any dust, debris, or lint build-up in the HDMI port, as well as signs of corrosion on the pin. Any presence of dirt particles can block the port from receiving signals, thereby leading to the discussed issue. Make sure to clean the port thoroughly and then plug the cable. If you notice that pins are corroded, it’s best to contact a technician and have them replaced.
Method 2: Disable Auto Power Saving Mode on Roku
Roku devices come with an Auto Power Saving mode that allows it to switch to a low-power mode after 20 minutes of inactivity. As this consumes almost no bandwidth, it may be possible that there are no signal issues with Roku, but rather it is just sleeping. Press any button on the remote to wake up the device and then disable Auto Power Saving by following the steps below:
1. Press the Home button on the Roku remote.
2. In the home screen. scroll and select Settings, followed by System.
3. Click on Power Settings and select Auto Power Savings.
4. Uncheck the After 20 minutes of no interaction option.
Method 3: Change TV Input Source
It is important to check that the TV is set to the right input source where the receiver is connected. Follow the steps below:
1. Unplus all external devices connected to the TV set.
2. Press the Home button on the remote and select Settings.
3. Click on TV inputs. Find and select the right input source – HDMI 1, HDMI 2, or AV in which your receiver cable is plugged in.
Method 4: Connect to a Different Port or Cable

Method 6: Factory Reset Settings
Resetting the factory reverts your TV to its default settings and erases your personal preferences. However, in case of a No signal issue, it can prove to be very effective. Here are the steps you need to follow for this process:
1. Navigate to the Settings menu and select System.
2. Click on Advanced system settings and select Factor reset from the right pane.
