Method 1: Try Restarting your PC then Chrome
The first, simple fix would be trying to restart your PC then make sure that there are no instances of chrome running and then trying to again open chrome. In order to check if Chrome is already running, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then find Chrome.exe and right-click on it, then select End Task. Once you have made sure close is not running now again open Google Chrome and see if you are able to fix the issue.
Method 2: Temporarily disable Antivirus and Firewall
1.Right-click on the Antivirus Program icon from the system tray and select Disable.
2.Next, select the time frame for which the Antivirus will remain disabled.
Note: Choose the smallest amount of time possible for example 15 minutes or 30 minutes.
3.Once done, again try to open Chrome and check if the error resolves or not.
4.Press Windows Key + I then select Control Panel.
5.Next, click on System and Security.

5.Now in the settings window scroll down and click on Advanced at the bottom.
6.Again scroll down to bottom and click on Reset column.
7.This would open a pop window again asking if you want to Reset, so click on Reset to continue.
Method 7: Reinstall Google Chrome
Well, if you have tried everything and still not able to fix the error then you need to reinstall Chrome again. But first, make sure to uninstall Google Chrome completely from your system then again download it from here. Canary is the only solution in my case, must be that Chrome needs an update to keep up with Win 10 updates …!!
Uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome did not help. I removed the entire contents of Chrome folder in %appdata%/local folder, installed Chrome, still not working. Only installing Chrome Canary helped. Thanks.

I think this has to do with some kind of Windows or Chrome update. None of the above resolutions seemed to do the trick.
My daughter is having this problem on her computer right now. For now, I just have her right clicking the chrome icon and clicking on settings and that opens the browser. Temporary fix until I can figure out how to fix it.

Two days ago, I been trying to get into my Google chrome from my browser on my desktop computer, to go onto my homepage. It looks it trying to get in but it won’t budge. I been trying everything I can think of here. What’s wrong or what I can do to get it to work?

You could open Google Chrome in incognito modus (attach Chrome to the taskbar > right click Google Chrome > new incognito window). Then, go to the settings. These will open in the normal modus.
Final solution here was to re-install the virusscanner.
Yes, update Chrome….Uninstall it. It is absolutely rubbish. All of the daft solutions above will not solve this issue.. I have tried them over and over. This happens regularly. and it’s so annoying.
The best thing to do is remove it. I’m now using edge..takes a bit of getting used to, but its better than Chrome, and much faster in response

Similar situation to most other people, Chrome would not start, but Canary did. The I read about using
chrome.exe /disable-gpu
I update the Chrome shortcut, and it works just fine too.
