Method 2: Turn off Comments on New Posts

How to Hide Comments on Instagram

Method 1: Directly from Comments
You can hide comments directly in your posts. Follow the steps:
1. Navigate to the targeted post and open comments under it.
2. Tap on Hide under it.
Method 2: Via Instagram Settings
In Instagram settings, there is an option that can hide comments on your post with targeted words, like comments containing words you do not prefer. Follow the steps:
1. Open Instagram, go to your profile page and tap the three lines icon at the top right corner.
2. Tap on Settings and privacy, scroll down, and tap on Hidden Words.
3. Tap on Manage custom words and phrases.
4. Add the words/ phrases/ emojis comments with which you want to hide and tap on Add.
5. Toggle on the Hide Comments option.

How to Hide Comments on Instagram for All Posts at Once
Well, at the time of writing this article, Instagram offers no direct option to hide all comments for all posts at once. You can either do them individually or set specific words based on which the comments will be filtered. However, you can automatically hide all offensive comments at once.
1. In the Settings and privacy menu on Instagram, tap on Hidden words.
2. Toggle on the Hide comments option under Harmful or offensive comments and messages.
3. You can also toggle on Advanced comment filtering if preferred.
Who Can See Hidden Comments on Instagram?
When you manually hide comments on your posts on Instagram, no one else other than you and the person who commented can see it. Moreover, the commenter will also not be able to see that you have hidden their comments.

How to Unhide Comments on Instagram

Method 1: Directly from Comments
Follow the steps to unhide any individual comment:
1. Navigate to the targeted post, open the comments section, scroll down, and tap on View hidden comments.
2. Tap on Unhide under the desired comment and tap on Unhide again to confirm.
Method 2: Via Instagram Settings
You can remove the custom words you set earlier to hide comments. Follow the steps below:
1. Follow the path: Settings and privacy > Hidden words > Manage custom words and phrases.
2. Tap on the Tap to view your list option.
3. Select the word you want to remove from being filtered, and then tap on the Delete icon next to it.

How to Turn Off Comments on Instagram Story
Well, stories on Instagram do not allow a feature to comment but to reply to the story via direct message. You can however turn this off. Follow the steps:
1. In the Settings and privacy menu on Instagram, scroll down and tap on Messages and story replies.
2. Tap on Story replies and select Don’t allow story replies.
You can even choose Allow replies from followers you follow back if preferred.
