How to Turn Off Restrictions on iPhone/iPad Without Password

iOS hack to bypass the shield!

iPhones are known to have robust system settings when it comes to limiting your child’s device usage. You can restrict all forms or content you think is inappropriate for them. However, the real hardship comes when you want to turn off the restrictions on your iPhone or iPad but can’t recall the password. Is it possible to disable them without the password? We will find out the same. So, let’s get started.

What is Parental Control on an iPhone?

With parental control, you can keep a tab on your child’s daily screen time, and how much time they spend on certain apps. You can also enable limitations for different types of content on your iPhone or iPad. Moreover, since the launch of iOS 14, features under parental control have relatively become better.

Can You Turn Off the Restriction on iPhone 13 Without Password and How?

Yes, you can turn off the restrictions on iPhone 13 or for that matter any iPhone model in case you’re not looking to use it. Now, it can be done easily if the lock screen time settings have not been turned on. However, if they are enabled, there is no official way to disable restrictions without the password.

Don’t worry though as we have some workarounds that can help you.

Note – Since not all versions of iOS offer the same features, some features mentioned in the article might not work. The following methods were tried on iOS 17.1.2.

Method 1: Recover Password Option

You can just reset the password completely if you are not able to recover it anyway, all with your Apple ID and password. Here’s how:

1. Open Settings on your iPhone and tap on the Screen Time option followed by Change Screen Time Passcode.

2. Now tap on Turn Off Screen Time Passcode.

Click on Turn Off Screen Time Passcode

3. Tap on Forgot Password, enter your Apple ID and Password, and tap on OK.

4. Finally, toggle off Content & Privacy Restrictions.

Method 2: Turn Off Restrictions via iTunes

You can use iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina or later) to restore the device and remove all restrictions. Doing so reinstalls the entire OS once again. However, do note that this will erase all data on the device.

Note: Make sure to backup all the data on your iPhone.

1. Install and launch the latest version of iTunes on your PC. After that, connect the iPhone to the PC and wait for iTunes to detect it.

2. Once detected, you may receive a prompt on your iPhone to trust the PC. Tap on Trust to confirm.

3. On iTunes on your PC, navigate to the Summary tab, click on Restore iPhone, and click on Restore to confirm.

click on the Restore option from the popup on iTunes

However, if you’ve accidentally deleted all the data on your iPhone, there are many third-party data recovery software that can help you get back all of it.

Method 3: Use Third-Party Apps (Not Recommended)

If you want to prevent data loss but still turn the screen time restrictions on your iPhone without the password, you can use third-party software such as iMyFone LockWiper, EaseUS MobiUnlock, or any other.

Note: We do not endorse any such apps/software that offer such services; therefore, use these at your discretion.

Is It Safe to Use A Third Party App to Turn Off Restrictions?

Using a third-party app to perform any kind of operation on your iPhone is a little risky as it might cause a potential security threat to the device. Such apps ask for permission to proceed and it’s not safe to allow them access, unless and until highly trusted. It is imminent to ensure using a third-party app is the last resort, only to be used as the last resort if required.

How to Turn Off Restriction on iPad

You can use the same methods mentioned above to disable restrictions on your iPad.

To conclude, there is a possibility that your child can turn off the restriction on the iPhone without a password. However, it is only possible if they know the Apple ID credentials that were used to set up the lock screen password.
