Option 1: On Desktop

  1. Open Facebook.
  2. Click the Photo/video option under What’s on your mind.
  3. Select photo.
  4. Click the Audience dropdown menu.
  5. Select Only me then click on Done.
  6. Click on Post.

The photo(s) will now upload to your Facebook account but will not be posted publicly to your timeline or news feed.

You can access these privately uploaded photos by visiting your Facebook profile and clicking on the Photos tab. The photos uploaded with the Only Me audience setting will be visible only to you.

If you want to add the privately uploaded photos to an existing album or create a new private album, you can do so from the Photos tab:

  1. Go to your profile and click on Photos.
  2. Click on Albums. Next, click on Create album.
  3. Change the audience setting to Only Me and then click on Done.
  4. Name your new album.
  5. Click Post.
  6. Now you can add your privately uploaded photos to this new private album.

Alternatively, you can move already uploaded private photos into an existing album by clicking the pencil icon on the photo and selecting Move to Another Album.

Option 2: On Mobile

  1. Open the Facebook app and tap on the Photo icon given next to Write something here…
  2. Select the photo(s) and tap Next.
  3. Tap on the Audience dropdown (the globe icon next to your name) and change it to Only Me.
  4. Tap on Done then tap on NEXT.
  5. Tap on POST.

The photos will now be uploaded to your Facebook account without being posted publicly.

To create a new private mobile album:

  1. In the Facebook app, go to your profile and tap on Photos under your cover photo.
  2. Tap the Albums tab and then the Create Album button.
  3. Tap the Audience button (globe icon) and change it to Only Me.
  4. Name your album and tap on Create in the top right.

You can then add photos to this private album by tapping the + button and selecting to upload photos from your camera roll.

  1. Once I upload a video to my facebook videos, I then would like people to be able to view the videos, even after I post to only me. How can I then make them so anyone can see them if they search my videos?
