Snapchat streaks are like the modern-day equivalent of high-fives, aren’t they? Well, instead of having to click a new snap and send it to your friend, you might want to share an old one from your camera roll but as a streak. It’s possible, but tricky. In this article, we will discuss how to send a snap from the camera roll as a streak on Snapchat to keep the snap score alive and kicking.
How to Send Photos from the Gallery as a Streak on Snapchat
Although Snapchat allows users to send snaps from their camera roll, they are not sent as streaks. Such photos are sent as direct messages and can be saved by the recipient. However, when you share an image as a streak, it appears in the form of snaps and cannot be saved. While there is no direct feature on Snapchat to share saved images as streaks, there is a workaround. Read more to learn about it.
Step 1: Allow Access to Your Device’s Camera Roll
If Snapchat does not already have permission to access photos and videos on the device, follow the steps to allow it:
Note: Since smartphones don’t have the same Settings options, they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Hence, ensure the correct settings before changing any on your device. The steps were performed on Samsung Galaxy A22 5G, as shown in the illustrations below.
1. Go to Settings and tap on Apps.
2. Navigate to Snapchat and tap on Permissions.
3. Under Not allowed, tap on Photos and Videos and select Allow.
Step 2: Send a Snap from Camera Roll as a Streak
Now is the time to share snaps from the camera roll as a streak. For this, you would need to use a filter. Follow the steps below:
1. Open Snapchat and tap on the Magnifier icon at the bottom center.
2. Search for the Camera Roll Upload filter and select the one shown in the image.
3. Either scroll right on the image film or tap on the + icon.
4. Select the image you want to share and tap on the colored circle icon in the center.
5. Tap Next and choose the person you want to send the snap to.
That’s it! The image will be sent to the recipient in the form of a streak.

Do Snaps from Camera Roll Count as Streaks?
No. Unfortunately, snaps from the camera roll don’t count towards streaks. Snapstreaks are maintained by sending Snaps directly to each other within a 24-hour window. It requires sending pictures clicked instantly using the app’s built-in camera.
