Toggle on your irresistible urge to go incognito with Instagram stories, Sherlock!

Indeed you would agree that curiosity is a dual-edged sword. Let’s say you had a disagreement with your friend or your partner, but are still eager to sneak peek into their story uploads. You want to know where they’ve been today, what they’ve eaten, or whatever they’ve put up on their Instagram stories, all but with no trace. Well, Instagram story previews can help you with that and in today’s article, we will show you how to see these without them knowing. Let’s get started!

How to See Instagram Story Previews

Story previews are small rectangular tiles displayed on the app’s main screen in the Recent stories section, that allow users to see a glimpse of the content shared by the accounts they follow. Unlike usual Instagram stories, here there’s a preview tile, with the profile picture or avatar of the user in the center and a colorful story ring around it. Some part of the actual content within the story is visible, like a thumbnail.

However, many users have reported that Instagram is no more showing story preview tiles on their feeds. As of now, it seems like they have removed it. So, how do you see them now? Even if you cannot find story previews on Instagram anymore, with a few workarounds, you can still see what your friends & followers have uploaded without them finding it out.

Method 1: View via Partial Swipe

See, this is a tricky process but it definitely works. The only downside is that you can only view the latest uploaded story or the last unseen one through this and not all. If that works well for you, follow the steps below:

1. Open Instagram.

2. Now, instead of the story you want to view, tap and open the next one.

3. Press and hold the story and slightly swipe to the right side of the screen without releasing your finger.

4. Once you get a glimpse of the story you want to view, swipe left again and release the finger.

Remember to be careful if you do not want the other person to know that you have seen their story. You would not be able to view the whole content, but roughly half of it. Also, this method might not be very helpful if it is a video story.

Method 2: Use the Blockade Trick

This is a way to watch all the latest uploaded stories from someone without them finding out about it. You can block the user and still view their story. You will not appear on their viewers’ list.

1. Open Instagram and navigate to the user’s profile whose story you want to view.

2. Tap the three vertical dots icon at the top right corner.

3. Select Block from the menu.

4. Now tap the user’s profile picture, view all the uploaded stories, and then tap on Unblock.

Method 3: Put on Airplane Mode

Another way to watch someone’s Instagram stories anonymously is to use the Airplane mode trick. Now this might or might not work since the internet will be completely cut off, but you can still give it a try. Follow the steps below:

1. Open Instagram and navigate to the user’s profile whose story you want to view.

2. Swipe down the notification panel and enable Airplane mode/Flight mode.

3. Tap on the story, watch it, and exit before you turn off the Airplane Mode.

Method 4: Use Third-Party Apps

If the above methods do not work for you, install and use third-party apps such as StorySaver; BlindStory; or Storized. Not only you can easily watch stories uploaded by the user discreetly but also save them.
