Stickers are cute creative ways to add to your narrative on Instagram stories. After all, they make your tales more visually attractive and interesting. Last year, Meta rolled out the AI stickers feature across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. Recently, they also introduced a new cutouts feature that helps users edit an image and make their custom sticker easily on Instagram story. So, let’s see how to do the same and add more to your content.
How to Make a Sticker on Instagram Story
With AI, users can generate any sticker as preferred just by using a definite prompt, such as – a cat sitting on a pink cloud or a poached egg smiley. Apart from that, you can also use cute animated or GIF stickers on stories. While all these are from Instagram’s built-in library, here’s how you can now make your custom one:
1. Open Instagram and tap on + Your story at the top-left corner.
2. Click or upload an image for the story and then tap on the stickers icon at the top.
3. Tap on CUTOUTS.
4. Select the image from which you want to cut out the sticker. Now Instagram will automatically detect the subject and cut it or tap on Select manually to select the area yourself.
5. Once cut, tap on Use sticker.
Also, the sticker will be saved in the Your stickers section and you can use it from there anytime.
How to Make Instagram Stickers on Canva
Now Canva does not let you directly create stickers but it has a huge built-in library of stickers and there is an indirect way to use them on Instagram.
1. Open Canva and tap the + icon in the center.
2. Select any preferred template and tap the + icon at the bottom left corner.
3. Move to the Elements tab and search for or choose the sticker you want.
4. Download the design and save it to the device gallery.
5. Use any third-party image editor app to remove the background or visit the remove bg website and tap on Upload Image.
6. Select the image downloaded from Canva and tap on Done at the top-right corner.
7. Once the image with the removed background is processed, tap on Download to save it on the device gallery in .png format.
8. Open Instagram, add the background for the story and then tap on the stickers icon.
9. Tap on the add pics icon and select the image without background. It will be added as a sticker.

Additional Methods to Make Instagram Stickers on Canva (Samsung Users)
Samsung devices come with a built-in image extractor that can easily help you copy objects from any image to the clipboard.
1. Open Gallery on your Samsung device and navigate to the targeted image.
2. Tap and hold on the target subject and once selected, tap on Copy.
3. Navigate and upload the Instagram story and you can paste the sticker from the clipboard directly on the image.
How to Make Stickers for Instagram Chat
You can use various third-party apps and tools like Canva, PicsArt, Giffy, Fotor, etc to make stickers, you might not be able to send the same as a sticker in chats on Instagram. Except for stickers and GIFs from its library, anything from the device gallery is only sent as a photo.
How to Add Stickers to Instagram Posts
Presently, unlike stories, there is no direct way to add stickers to posts from Instagram’s library. However, you can use third-party photo editing apps to edit the images and add stickers to them as preferred. Once done, you can save them to the device gallery and upload them on Instagram.
