  1. What ever is written here is just normal GUI Installation. If you want to learn sap then download image file of sap EDD IDES which runs on VMware with windows server 2002 or any (Don’t know) and then you can use this.
If you use this above mention procedure then you should have working internet connection with proper router string and ip( provided by server ).

Or you can purchase rental server with 700-1000 rs/- per month.

  2. Hi,
I am as well getting the same error.

Error – “Check your application server name”, “Host name sapserver01 unknown”.

Also I tried n number of ways for loggin in to the server but couldn’t find a way.

Also tried to enter the SAProuter string field but still I have the same error.

Can anyone please let me know a way of getting this problem solved?? Also expecting a reply from @ adityafarrad

    Thank you.

  3. Sorry to disappoint anyone reading this, but this is just the installation of the SAP client (SAP GUI). Just the client by itself is useless unless you have an SAP system to connect to.

  4. Hi,

It seems that the sever name mentioned in these instructions is for a system used by the writer.

Your server name must be different. Therefore pls find the correct server name relevant to your IDES installation. I have seen some IDES systems use server names such as eccehp7 etc. etc.

  5. Hi,

This is further to my previous post. As correctly mentioned by Martin, this client is only a front end (presentation layer) for connecting to the IDES system. You should have a working IDES system (Application and Database layers) installed, in order to connect to it using this SAP GUI client.

This is not all about installing IDES. First you have to find IDES installation files and then install it.
But, as far as GUI installation is concerned, this guide gives correct and precise instructions as how to install GUI.

  6. I see that nobody is talking about the elephant in the room. This post is at least misleading (“How to Install SAP IDES for Practice”) and probably adityafarrad posted this and never looked back (otherwise he would have read the comments and answered). As mentioned by others this refers only to the GUI part. Don’t lose time on this like me.

    1. Hi, Actually this was a guest from another author, I don’t have the technical expertise for the SAP domain. I have already tried to reach out to the author but they are not available. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
