As an eBay seller, knowing how to effectively manage your listings is important for a successful selling experience. Sometimes, you might need to remove a listing for reasons such as the item being sold elsewhere, wanting to update the listing details, or it’s simply no longer available. However, this process sometimes becomes confusing, particularly for new sellers, who are still figuring out ins and outs of the platform. Here, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to delete a listing from eBay, so that you can manage all your lists swiftly and confidently.
How to Delete an eBay Listing
Removing a listed item on eBay is a straightforward process. Here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to do so:
1. Navigate to the eBay website in your web browser and log into your account there.
2. Go to your Seller Hub and click on Listings to navigate to the Manage active listings page.
3. If you’ve found the listing you wish to end via Seller Hub, select the checkbox next to the listing, then select End listings in the dropdown menu.
Note: If you have multiple listings you want to delete, you can select multiple checkboxes and end them all at once using the dropdown menus.
Once you have followed these steps, your listing will be deleted from eBay. Keep in mind that if your item has bids or offers, you’ll need to cancel them before you can end the listing.

How Long is a Listing Active on eBay?
Usually, there are no restrictions on ending a fixed-price listing early. However, there are some restrictions on ending an auction-style listing early, depending on how much time is left in the listing and whether or not any bids have been placed for your item.
If your auction-style listing still has 12 hours or more left:
- You have the freedom to delete the listing if there are no active bids on your item.
- If your item has received one or more bids, you have the option to conclude the auction ahead of schedule and sell the item to the highest current bidder.
- If your item already has one or more bids, you can choose to cancel all the bids and end the listing prematurely. However, if you’ve done this before in the current calendar year, you’ll be charged a fee equivalent to the final value fee you would have paid if the auction had naturally concluded with the item sold to the highest bidder.
If your auction-style listing has fewer than 12 hours left:
- If there are no current bids on your item and you haven’t manually blocked any bids, you can cancel the listing without any limitations.
- If your item has received one or more bids, you have the option to end the listing prematurely and sell the item to the current highest bidder.
- If you’ve manually blocked all current bids on your item, you won’t be able to end the auction early.
If your item has one or more bids, but the highest bid doesn’t meet your reserve price (if you’ve set one), you cannot end the listing prematurely.

How to End an eBay Listing Early
eBay may charge you a fee if you delete or end an eBay listing early. It’s the same as the final value fee you’d have to pay if you sold the listing.
Follow these steps to end eBay listing early:
1. Log into your eBay account.
2. After, signing into your account, click on the My eBay tab in the upper right corner, then click on Selling.
3. Click on the Active underneath the Sell heading to go to your active listings.
4. Click on the More Actions button beside the listing. Then, Choose the End listing option from the drop-down menu.
5. Select your reason for cancelling the listing. Then, click on End my listing to terminate the listing early.
Note: Make sure that removing an eBay listing is the best course of action for your circumstances before doing so. If for any reason you are unable to sell the item in the listing or if you wish to sell the item elsewhere other than eBay, you should only remove the listing.
Whether you are looking to remove an item that’s no longer available or you have changed your mind about selling, deleting a listing on eBay is a simple process that can be done in just a few clicks.
