Why Do Google Docs Show Inconsistent Numbering?
In Google Docs, inconsistent numbering often occurs due to several reasons such as:
- If you’ve manually inserted page numbers instead of the built-in feature, changes in document layout or when a page is added/removed can cause inconsistency in numbering.
- Different sections within a document may have different numbering formats and when breaks are not properly managed, can cause such issues.
- If you have edited headers and footers separately on different pages, page numbers may vary.
- Tables, images, or text boxes may cause an inconsistent flow of page numbers, especially if they are inserted in the middle of the document.
- If the document is imported from somewhere then numbering can cause the discussed issue.
