One thing that I’ve found that consistently fixes this is, bizarrely, to fix any Windows Update issues you might have.
My WiFi stopped reconnecting after resuming from sleep one Monday morning and, after spending hours looking for a fix – including ordering a new WiFi adapter – I finally correlated this with a failed Windows Update. The update wasn’t being downloaded and installed and was constantly throwing errors.
I found that if I went to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads and deleted everything in that folder, then retried the Windows Update, it proceeded successfully. Then I rebooted, tried sleep then resume and everything was fine and stayed that way – WiFi reconnected immediately and all was well.
