Make sure to create a restore point just in case something goes wrong.

Method 1: Run SFC and CHKDSK in Safe Mode

1. Press Windows Key + R then type msconfig and hit Enter to open System Configuration.

sfc /scannow

8. Again open Command Prompt with admin privileges and type the following command and hit Enter:

chkdsk C: /f /r /x

Note: In the above command C: is the drive on which we want to check disk, /f stands for a flag which chkdsk the permission to fix any errors associated with the drive, /r let chkdsk search for bad sectors and perform recovery and /x instructs the check disk to dismount the drive before beginning the process.

8. It will ask to schedule the scan in the next system reboot, type Y and hit enter.

9. Wait for the above process to finish and then again uncheck the Safe Boot option in System Configuration.

10. Restart your PC to save changes.

Method 2: Change Sound Scheme of your PC

1. Right-click on the Volume icon in the system tray and select Sounds.

5. Set a username and password, then select Next > Finish.

Next, make the new account an administrator account:

1. Again open the Windows Settings and click on Account.

3. Other people choose the account you just created and then selected a Change account type.

4. Under Account type, select Administrator then click OK.

If the issue persists try deleting the old administrator account:

1. Again go to Windows Settings then Account > Family & other people.

2. Under Other users, select the old administrator account, click Remove, and select Delete account and data.

3. If you were using a Microsoft account to sign in before, you can associate that account with the new administrator by following the next step.

4. In Windows Settings > Accounts, select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead and enter your account info.

    One unclear moment at method 4 (new account creation step): should I create local account or new MS account.
    Clarify your text, please.

    Also. sfc found some errors, but its corrections were fruitless. I running win10 in virtualbox under Linux, and the error (File System Error (-1073741819)) appeared after one of latest VB updates.
    I could run something as admin only after removed OLD VB Tools in safe mode.

    To the previous commenter, Sergei: I found my way here with the same problem as you. I was running Windows 10 in a VirtualBox VM on macOS. I hadn’t correlated the File System Error problem with a VirtualBox update. Thanks to your thoughtful comment, the solution was easy — uninstalled the previous version of VirtualBox Guest Editions while in Safe Mode did the trick.
