In a bid to empower creators and enhance the effectiveness of their videos, YouTube is currently testing a groundbreaking feature called Test & Compare. This innovative tool enables creators to conduct A/B tests on their thumbnails, allowing them to determine the most engaging and click-worthy option. Although still in beta, the Test & Compare feature is set to revolutionize the way creators optimize their video thumbnails, ultimately leading to increased click-through rates (CTR) and viewer engagement.
The Test & Compare feature is in development phase, but it is expected to be rolled out to all creators in next year. To use the feature, creators will need to go to the Video Manager page and click on the Thumbnail tab. Once there, they will see a new option called Test & Compare.
To create a Test & Compare experiment, creators will need to upload three different thumbnails for the same video. They will then need to specify the duration of the experiment. The default duration is 7 days, but creators can choose a different duration if they want.
Once the experiment is created, YouTube will randomly show one of the two or three thumbnails to viewers. Creators can then track the CTR of each thumbnail to see which one performs better.
