Along with it not working at all, users have reported that they were only able to right-click on “This PC” or “Recycle bin”. The main problem seems to be Windows Shell Extension, although it can also be due to outdated or incompatible graphic card drivers, corrupt system files or registry keys.

  1. Great detailed tutorial. My right click did not work immediately after install of Win 10. I went through your list, but could not do the sfc or the dism because command prompt simply would not come on, and also I could not right click on it to run as administrator. So I skipped those, turned off tablet mode (didn’t help) and then ran the shellexview. (However, you did say to right click and run as administrator, but the right click didn’t work of course. ) I ran it without that. After disabling all the “pink” entries, the right click came back, and the command prompt started to work. I did go ahead and run the sfc then, and all was ok there.
So thank you, my issue is fixed!!!
