According to WABetaInfo, this feature has been announced in January 2023 and now the update is finally rolling out to some beta testers once installed the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.3.0.74 from the TestFlight app.

Thanks to this feature, the camera mode has been redesigned now users can switch to video mode with just a tap, meaning now you don’t have to tap and hold to record a video. Capturing a video will be more convenient. Users can also switch from front to back camera or vice versa while recording.

Additionally, this update includes the ability to share voice notes via status again. The new camera mode is available for some beta testers that install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for iOS from TestFlight and is now rolling out to even more users over the coming days.
