Global social media giant, Twitter, has opened up its premium plan to Android users. If customers choose to purchase the Twitter Blue plan on Android devices, they will now be required to pay $11 each month which will be the same as that for iOS users. Just one day after introducing their yearly subscription plan for Twitter Blue, they have also released the cost for Android users. Twitter’s Blue subscription will be accessible to users from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Twitter Blue was a straightforward service that cost $5 per month and had added features like bookmarks and the option to undo posted tweets when it was first announced in 2021. Since Elon Musk took over, it has gone through a lot of changes, including the long-awaited edit tweet feature and a price increase, but while these features were there for iOS and web users. Now, that Twitter Blue arrives on Android at same price as iOS, all mobile users can rejoice. The cost to buy Twitter Blue on the web is still $8 per month, making this new subscription plan 35% higher in cost for mobile users.
Features exclusive to Android and iOS users include the following:
- Customisation for navigation bar.
- Reader tool, which compresses long threads for easier reading.
- Different themes and custom app icons.
Additionally, users will be able to organise bookmarked tweets into folders for faster navigation, while also getting access to a 60-minute upload time limit for videos. This feature, although, is available only on the web mode.
“When you subscribe you’ll get Edit Tweet, 1080p video uploads, reader mode, and a blue checkmark after your account has been reviewed”, the American Company, now owned by Elon Musk, stated in December 2022. It must be noted that one must have Twitter account which is at least 90 days old and a confirmed phone number in order to purchase and enjoy the benefits that Twitter Blue brings forth.

The California-based company has introduced an annual membership plan for $84 per year. It is the most cost-effective way to obtain their Blue subscription service, but given how the organisation has a knack for changing and upgrading features without giving too many hints, one cannot predict if the price range can change in the near future again.
Among Twitter users, a verified account is a widely sought credential. Blue checkmarks can be used by Twitter as a tacit incentive for users to produce more content since it is the only platform that can award them this recognition. In order to reduce the prominence of frauds, spam, and bots, they have also stated that soon subscribers with the blue checkmark will have priority ranking in searches, mentions, and responses.
