Tinder and Hinge are beginning to resemble one another more and more as Match aims to draw in Gen Z users to support its growth. Despite the fact that each app is targeted at a little bit different online dating market niche, their feature sets are beginning to align. We first saw this when Tinder introduced its Relationship Goals feature in December. Tinder had taken this idea from Hinge and allowed users to choose whether they were seeking for a long-term relationship or a casual hookup.
This feature was first made available by Hinge in November, and Tinder is now stealing it to add Relationship Types to their profile.
In a latest survey conducted by Tinder, it was discovered that 73% of young singles, regardless of gender, said they were looking for someone who was clear about what they wanted. With the kinds of details, they add in their Tinder profiles, people are demonstrating how much they value being deliberate, authentic, and honest. Relationship Objectives have increased in popularity over the previous three months, with 60% of Tinder users adding them to their profiles2 (other than zodiac sign, obviously).
When editing their profile, Tinder users can now choose between the following relationship types: monogamy, ethical non-monogamy, open partnership, polyamory, and open to exploring. While open relationships (36%) and hierarchical polyamory (26%) are the most common non-monogamic relationship types, 41% of Gen Z are open to or wanting non-monogamic relationships, despite the fact that 52% of them prefer monogamous relationships.
According to a recent survey of young daters between the ages of 18 and 25, 33% agree that their sexuality is more fluid, and 29% think their gender identity has become more fluid over the previous three years. The LGBTQIA+ community is the demographic on Tinder that is expanding the quickest. 3 Members can select up to four pronouns from a list of 15+ alternatives to display on their profile, in addition to their sexual orientation and gender, to help everyone in presenting their real identity.
This update comes after the introduction of Relationship Goals, a badge for users’ profiles that expressly states what they’re using Tinder for: a long-term relationship, a long-term relationship that’s open to short, a short-term relationship that’s open to long, new friends, or still figuring it out. 40% of Tinder users who use the app’s Relationship Objectives function to indicate their intentions claim they’re searching for a long-term relationship, compared to 13% who are looking for a quick hookup.
Tinder just introduced a new marketing initiative called It Starts with a Swipe to address the Gen Z issue. These younger consumers, who frequently have different ideas about love and passion than older generations, are the target audience for the new advertisements. The campaign, which was inspired by Gen Z, celebrates a multiplicity of options, as well as genders, orientations, and multiculturalism, the business claimed.
