TikTok Begins Blocking Links to App Store Pages from Creator Bios

TikTok begins blocking links to app store pages from creator bios, the social media company confirmed. The change was first noticed by Sendit co-founder David Tesler, who also took to Twitter to share the discovery. In his tweet, Tesler wrote, “TikTok is blocking links to the app store and screwing over their own creators.” He attached a screen recorded video which appears to be showing an “Action can’t be completed” message once tapped on the app store link in the bio.

The block introduced by TikTok will greatly affect the CPI (Cost Per Install) campaign deals between TikTok creators and brands. The new limitations will also apply to third-party link-in-bio tools that can help a user to put up links for products on their bio.

TikTok did not officially make announcements for the new changes however, it is likely that TikTok begins blocking links to app store pages from creator bios. But, users will be able to add website links to their bio. The change only seems to affect the regular TikTok creators and does not affect TikTok business accounts.
