Microsoft Teams Premium with ChatGPT

Microsoft has released a new premiere tier to their Teams app with the same existing Teams features, better meeting protection, and an AI-powered recap feature at an introductory price of $7 per month. Rolled out on Wednesday, the new Microsoft Teams premium with ChatGPT is slated to make Teams more personalized, intelligent, and protected.

Powered by OpenAI GPT-3.5 AI language model, Microsoft Teams Premium with ChatGPT will help users to

  • Generate meeting notes and advocate tasks.
  • Access intelligent recaps in case you fail to attend a meeting.
  • Improve the translation of captions during meetings.
  • Make meetings more confidential with recording restrictions.
  • Automate meeting protection with Watermarking to prevent leaks.

Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, revealed the New Microsoft Teams in a tweet, stating, “We’re bringing the power of large language models, including OpenAI’s GPT, to Teams Premium, as we make meetings more intelligent, personalized, and protected”. He also shared a link to a blog post by Microsoft Teams VP Nicole Herskowitz explaining the new Team Premium.

Microsoft is also making some of the existing features premium such as live translated captions, timeline markers for when you left or joined meetings, custom organization together mode scenes, and a few more virtual meeting settings. The existing Teams users will get a 60-day grace period for live translated captions and timeline markers, and all the other features that are now premium only will have a grace period of 30 days. Future plans are to introduce speaker timeline markers in addition to personalized timeline markers to show when and who spoke in the meeting.

With an introductory price of $7 per month, Microsoft wants to test how productive the inclusion of ChatGPT will be in teams. After June, the price will be increased to $10. Currently, you can try the premium version for free for a 1-month trial period.
