In an effort to streamline and unify their various apps and services, Microsoft has announced that their Microsoft 365 Apps will shift to new domain cloud.microsoft. Microsoft 365 Apps Shifts to New Domain cloud.microsoft

In case you are into an office job for which you have to sit in front of PC all the time then you must be quite aware of the issue. Microsoft has got an abundance of domains for different applications that are to remember by an individual. Moreover, it does not look cool when you have to spare a second just to decipher in which domain you are.

The new domain of Microsoft are as follows:

  • outlook.cloud.microsoft
  • status.cloud.microsoft
  • loop.cloud.microsoft
  • onedrive.cloud.microsoft
  • teams.cloud.microsoft
  • sway.cloud.microsoft
  • viva.cloud.microsoft.

This change will bring several benefits for end users, including a smoother experience with fewer sign-in prompts, redirects, and delays when moving between apps. For administrators, the new system will simplify the process of maintaining secure access for users while enabling them to use the necessary apps and services. This is another big step on part of Microsoft after it launched the AI powered Microsoft Copilot.

First, only new services will be launched on the cloud.microsoft domain. Existing workloads will be transitioned at a slower pace due to various implications that need to be carefully considered. In general, customers can continue using Microsoft 365 workloads in the same way as they currently do without requiring any action. End users will eventually be automatically redirected to the new domain when using existing links and bookmarks.

As Microsoft 365 apps shifts to new domain cloud.microsoft, it will also facilitate better integration across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem by improving performance and streamlining development. This is a positive development for all customers and developers.

The microsoft.com domain will continue for non-product experiences. Only authenticated product experiences will use the cloud.microsoft domain to establish a clean security boundary and simplify endpoint allow-list management.
