At this year’s Google I/O Event, the tech giant announced a major upgrade to its popular productivity suite, Google Workspace as it rebrands AI tools for Docs and Gmail as Duet AI. The integration of PaLM2, a cutting-edge generative AI model, is set to revolutionize the way people work with documents and collaborate on projects.
Google Workspace has announced the launch of its new AI-powered feature, Help Me Write, in its email and document platforms. The feature, which was made available to Trusted Testers in March, is designed to act as a collaborator, coach, and thought partner for users across all the apps of Google Workspace.
According to Google, Help Me Write has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from testers who have been using it to create high-quality content more efficiently than ever before. The feature has been widely used for a variety of tasks, from writing essays to sales pitches, project plans, client outreach, and more.
Since the initial launch, Google has been working to expand Help Me Write across most surfaces of Google Workspace. These new AI features have been expanded to Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to name a few.
The speaker at Google I/O Event Aparna Pappu provided a range of examples of how AI integration will take place in Google Workspace apps.
Help Me Write: One such example was writing a Trustee job description in docs. Here a prompt was given in Google Docs with the use of the Help me write that said, “Senior level job description for textile designer”
The result of this prompt is quite impressive as you can see below.
Help Me Organize: Another interesting example is Google Sheets where just little bits of information can provide you with too in-depth result data. For example, if we type “Client and pet roster for a dog walking business with Rates” in a new Sheet with the use of the Help me Organize feature below is the result you will get.
Help Me Visualize: The interesting part of this rebranding of AI tools for Docs and Gmail as Duet AI is it is not just concerned with text. As is the case with Google Slides here you will be able to create images from text with the use of Help me visualize. All you have to do Is pick up the text from the slide and use it as a prompt for image creation. Below is one example.
And the results are also quite impressive. Moreover, the image generator provides you with 6 to 8 images so that you have the ability to choose and refine them.
Trusted testers will have access to seven generative AI features in Workspace from next month, with all features available later in 2023 via Duet AI for Workspace service for business and consumer users.
