First update for PC port of The Last of Us has now been pushed. The Last of Us is an award-winning game. In December 2022, during the Game Awards, The Last of Us game generated massive excitement when its PC port was announced. The release of the port was slated for 3rd March 2023.
Later, the PC port was pushed forward to 29th March 2023. The release was not further delayed but the fact of the matter is that there were many issues due to which the launch got delayed.
Naughty Dog, the developers of The Last of Us part 1, on its official Twitter handle informed the fans about the update. They have also acknowledged the concerns regarding the plague of the PC version of The Last of Us. Naughty Dog also promised to resolve the issues and has asked the fans to submit the issues they’re facing on its official support page.
The Steam reviews earned the “Most Negative” review score as many players voiced their concerns through Steam reviews. Crashes and rate stuttering were the common complaints. Other segment of players were of the view that the game didn’t launch on the systems that were even meeting the minimum requirements.
The minor update upped the game’s recent version to 188.8.131.52 from 184.108.40.206. The update focused on improving performance and stability as inferred from the release notes. The team has been working actively to cause more improvements. The improvements will be based on the feedback received by the users. There is an addition of crash diagnostics that will help to gather even more information and instincts about building-related crashes.
As the first update for PC port of The Last of Us is out, the shader building of the game is being seen as the major culprit behind the poor loading time and stuttering issue. Some files will get the new patch alter according to the change log reports and one of this related to Shaders.
The players have blamed Iron Galaxy. It handled the PC port of The Last of Us after delivering the disastrous Batman: Arkham Knight PC port. Iron Galaxy delivered some successful ports including Metroid Prime Remastered. The Metroid Prime Remastered received a highly overwhelming response from fans and the critics.
The other positively received ports from Iron Galaxy were the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It is hopeful that the players will be relieved from the latest patch that reported about the long load times in the PC port of The Last of Us. The long load times were the top most priority of Naughty Dog. The fans who purchased The Last of Us on PC can predict more patches in the near future. These future patches will allow the players to experience the must-play PlayStation exclusives.
