Every gamer out there must have heard of the Assassin’s Creed or must have played at least one of their 13 main games on a gaming console or one of their 16 spinoff games on smaller devices. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which is one of the most recent versions of the famous franchise, was the lucky recipient of the first Interactive Media Grammy award. However, big occasions come with a small price to pay for them and the team of Ubisoft learned it the hard way. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla wins a Grammy at Oscar but not without its fair share of comedy of errors.
Ubisoft has been a pillar of support behind this open-world, action-adventure, stealth game. Their long association and support for the game have helped one of the latest versions of the game to bag an Oscar but not without paying a small price.
LA was home to the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on 5th February 2023. On what could be called one of the biggest award nights of the year, the game was set to receive a big honor and the first of its kind as they were to be awarded for Score Soundtrack For Interactive Media. However, the night wasn’t going to be smooth sailing for the winners as the game’s name was comically mispronounced ironically by a comedian, as you can be seen in this Twitter video.
Again, the night just wouldn’t get any better as the award handed to Stephanie Economou wasn’t for the Valhalla game itself; but rather the big expansion of the game which is named Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok DLC. Randy Rainbow, the presenter of the award, must have had his head in hand later that night just like the gaming community who watched these awards for its first ever video game dedicated award must have had theirs while the presentation was going on.

After Assassin’s Creed Valhalla wins Grammy at Oscar, but not without comedy of errors, there’s a lot to look forward to. The game by Ubisoft was nominated for the honor alongside Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Oddworld, Call of Duty: Vanguard, and Aliens: Fireteam Elite. For now, these awards are done with and the embarrassment might be in the past now. However, if these awards became a norm at Grammy every year then surely, we can expect similar mispronunciations to take place on the biggest music awards stage. Oops!
