Gorilla Technologies has launched a new AI chat app called Superchat – AI Virtual Chat lets you connect to fictional and historical virtual characters powered by OpenAI ChatGPT. While there are many AI chat apps available, what sets Superchat apart is its unique characters that users can engage with.
The app features characters from notable historical figures like Shakespeare, Joan of Arc, and Cleopatra, as well as characters from public domain works, classic stories, or fairy tales, like Snow White, Rapunzel, Beethoven and Pinnochio.
The Superchat app provides an AI assistant named Aria, who can aid users with everyday tasks like email writing and marketing expertise. While the characters seem to be aware of their own history and include it in their conversations, their speaking style is more of a generic AI. However, the characters could use a bit more configuration as their later interactions don’t invoke speech patterns to make them sound like the character they represent.
The app’s cheapest plan costs $1.35 per week, and the annual subscription costs approximately $70. The weekly subscription costs $6.99, which seems a bit overpriced, especially if children are the target market. Despite the prices, Gorilla Technologies is confident that users will appreciate the app’s unique characters and be willing to pay for the service.
The idea of putting a face on an AI and having it interact in the style of its character is a fascinating concept that could revolutionize the way people communicate with technology. As AI technology continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Superchat and other similar apps develop and change the way we interact with technology.
